Custom silicon design has historically been the domain of large companies with dedicated engineering teams and massive budgets. We founded ChipLAB to change that — to bring world-class ASIC design expertise to any company with an ambitious hardware vision, regardless of size.
At the same time, we recognized a talent crisis in the semiconductor industry. Great ASIC design engineers are rare, and getting rarer. Our Design Academy exists to resolve that — creating a structured, industry-aligned pathway for engineers who want to enter the field and for companies who need them.

In a world increasingly shaped by AI and IoT, ChipLAB emerged from a critical need — bridging the talent gap in the semiconductor industry and unlocking Africa’s youthful potential. Inspired by conversations with industry leaders seeking to diversify their workforce, including the inclusion of more women and African talent, ChipLAB was born.

ChipLAB was founded by a team of veteran ASIC engineers who collectively spent decades at companies including Apple, Intel, Arm, Broadcom, and TSMC. After years of watching brilliant product ideas stall because the teams behind them lacked silicon design expertise, our founders decided to do something about it.
We started with a simple offering — ASIC consulting and design services — and quickly found that clients needed more than execution. They needed partners who understood their business goals and could translate them into silicon realities. Today, ChipLAB operates as an integrated lab: a commercial ASIC design services firm and an engineering academy, sharing the same tools, the same engineers, and the same standard of excellence.
