1. Who We Are
ChipLAB ASIC Design Lab ("ChipLAB," "we," "our," or "us") is a semiconductor design and engineering training company headquartered in San Jose, California. We operate the website at chiplab.net and related subdomains (the "Site").
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
We collect information you choose to submit to us, including:
- Contact form submissions: name, email address, organisation, phone number, inquiry type, and message content.
- Newsletter subscriptions: email address, and optionally first name, last name, and company.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. We do not currently operate an active analytics service, though we may add one in future and will update this Policy accordingly.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your contact form inquiries and route them to the appropriate team member.
- Send you our newsletter if you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe at any time).
- Communicate updates about ChipLAB programs, partnerships, or events where you have indicated interest.
- Improve the Site and understand how visitors engage with our content.
- Comply with any legal obligations.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party for their own marketing purposes.
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party service providers to operate the Site. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle your data:
- Formspree (privacy policy) — processes contact form submissions on our behalf. Submitted data is transmitted to Formspree's servers and forwarded to our team inbox.
- Intuit Mailchimp (privacy policy) — manages our newsletter mailing list. When you subscribe, your email address and any optional fields are stored in our Mailchimp account.
- Google Fonts — serves typeface files. Google may log your IP address when loading fonts. See Google's privacy policy.
We select service providers that maintain appropriate security standards. We do not authorise them to use your information for their own purposes beyond providing services to us.
5. Cookies & Tracking
The Site uses no first-party tracking cookies. Third-party services (Google Fonts, Formspree, Mailchimp) may set their own cookies or similar technologies as described in their respective privacy policies. You can configure your browser to refuse cookies; this will not affect your ability to read or navigate the Site.
6. Data Retention
Contact form data is retained in our email and Formspree dashboard for as long as necessary to address your inquiry, and then for a reasonable period thereafter for record-keeping purposes. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe, at which point your email address is removed from active send lists. You may also request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: request that we delete your personal data.
- Objection / Restriction: object to or ask us to restrict certain processing of your data.
- Portability: request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdrawal of consent: unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us directly.

8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data transmitted through our contact form is sent over HTTPS. However, no transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for professionals and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at info@chiplab.net and we will delete it promptly.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Site after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
